Terms of service
Plain language, because you should be able to read this in two minutes.
What you are buying
A subscription to a daily feed of records compiled from government sources, filtered to the coverage you set, billed monthly or yearly; or a one-off report. Billing, cancelling and refunds are below.
What we promise
That we read the sources listed on the coverage page every run, that we do not knowingly send you a building that has already been recertified, and that we do not send you the same record twice. We do not promise completeness, real-time accuracy, or that any lead becomes work.
What the data is not
It is not a legal determination, an engineering opinion, or evidence of a building's condition or compliance. Cycle years are calculated from public parcel data and can be wrong where the underlying record is wrong. Confirm status with the authority having jurisdiction before you rely on it.
Your use of it
Your subscription is a licence to use the feed — including exports, API responses and reports — to find and pursue work for your own firm. It is not a sale of the data. Do not resell, republish, share or otherwise redistribute it outside your company, in whole or in part. Your account is for your company; people on it count against your plan's seats. Exports carry a per-account reference so a copy found elsewhere can be traced to its source. One-off reports bought without a subscription are licensed on the same terms, for the buyer's own use.
Billing, cancellation and refunds
Before you subscribe. There is no free trial. The free address lookup and the sample pages show what we hold before you pay anything.
Billing. Plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, at the price shown when you subscribe, and renew automatically until you cancel. Before a yearly plan renews, we email you a reminder 30 days ahead.
Cancelling. Cancel any time from Account → Billing, or by emailing hello@buildingdue.com. A monthly plan keeps running to the end of the month you have paid for, and you are not charged again. A yearly plan ends at the end of the current month, with the refund below.
Refunds. Subscriptions are not refunded, except the unused part of a yearly plan:
- Monthly plans: no refunds. A month you have paid for is kept once it has started — the leads are delivered from the first morning.
- Yearly plans: cancel at any point in the year and we refund every whole month not yet started, each at one twelfth of the yearly price. The first month, and every month up to and including the current one, are always kept. Example: a $15,000 yearly plan cancelled in its fourth month refunds 8 × $1,250 = $10,000.
- Billing mistakes are always refunded in full: a duplicate charge, a charge after you cancelled, or a price other than the one you agreed to.
- One-off reports (area, condo, dossier, storm): refunded in full if we cannot produce the report you ordered, or it covers the wrong building or area. Because a report is delivered as soon as it is made, it is not refunded for a change of mind.
- If we fail you: if your daily feed is not delivered for 3 or more business days in a row through a fault of ours, we credit those days to your next bill on request.
Founding customers keep their founding price for as long as their subscription stays active. Cancelling ends it; a later subscription is at the price of the day.
How refunds are paid. To the card you paid with, through Stripe, within 5 business days of our approving it; your bank may take 5–10 more days.
About the data. BuildingDue compiles public records. A mistake in a government record is not grounds for a refund, but tell us and we will correct what we can and say where the record came from.
Questions or a problem with a charge? Email hello@buildingdue.com before disputing it with your bank — we answer within two business days. Nothing here limits your rights under the law.
Ending it
You can cancel as above. We may suspend an account immediately for resale or abuse.
